Random Acts of Wednesday

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: 3.5m easy 9:22/pace

Wednesday: 5m tempo (1m warm up, 3m @ 7:44/pace, 1m cooldown) + 15 min legs (offset lunges, TRX pistol squats & dead lifts)

First random of today: I did a short leg workout after a tempo run today. I have never been good about training legs and running all in the same week. But i recently read about how you SHOULD workout legs after a hard running workout. You can read about why here!

Burger & baked fries

Random #4- I tried cupping over Christmas. And I liked it. 🙂

Random #5 I found a package of Christmas cookies on clearance for $1. Not too random, but does anyone else follow the rule that if you eat a cookie over the sink it doesn’t count?

It also doesn’t count when you’re walking and eating cookies.

  1. Fun post and pictures – love the dog toys in the one with the pork dish (keeping it real!) 😀 We have a dog toy basket in our family room and sometimes it seems like their mission is to re-scatter toys! Also love the food pics – we’ve been fairly lame since doing some cool stuff over the holidays – back to basics, Lisa’s system couldn’t handle much more ‘adventure’!

And so true with mixing up the workouts – strengthening all of your legs (hips, etc) is really so key to staying healthy … I do try to do some bodyweight stuff, but am just so bad about following through!

Random thing? We made cupcakes for the Marching Band Banquet on Monday, but *so many* people brought desserts (there are ~125 kids in the marching band) that only 5 were taken … and we accounted for 4 of them! That was true for most everything, even with a bunch of teenagers there was so much food that most of it was barely touched!

  2. The socks are so cute and the dinner looks delish! I need a new TV series to watch, guess that’s my random comment! 🙂

  3. omg foot cardigan looks so cool! my boyfriend is going to love it haha! and obviously cookies don’t count when eaten standing in the kitchen and/or when on the move haha

  4. Those meals look great! And I would love to hear more about the cupping. You had it done on your upper back?

    • that was my first time with cupping! i’ve had a really bad tight neck (which went into my left shoulder) and the cupping released the muscle instantly. it was so weird and a little painful, but i prefer a little pain to massage, so i loved it!

  5. That foot cardigan seems like the coolest gift EVER!!! I need to get better about lifting legs. I was really good at it. I want to start going on Sundays. I’ve been doing track workouts on Tuesdays and tempo runs on Thursdays, so I don’t want to tire my legs out for that. But you are so right about lifting legs. I also have a new routine that I want to try, I just need to figure out how to fit it all in!!!

    • Yep, every time i get into a training plan i tend to neglect my legs. and then i use the excuse that i don’t want my legs to be sore for the next days run. but i’m figuring out how to workout my legs without completely demolishing them (sore for 3-4+ days) so i can run. I’m already feeling stronger!

  6. The sock gift seems like such a cool idea! I love fun socks, and I know so many other people who do too. I’ll have to keep this in mind for next Christmas!
