First and most important, I signed up for the Rock N’ Roll DC 1/2 (March 11th). I can’t quit this race. I ran it so strong last year I want to gun for another course record.
Speaking of records, I can now do 5 chin ups at a time (palms facing in). It’s been a goal forever, i’m slowing making progress! Now about those wide grip pull-ups…
Studying this winter to become a Run-Fit Certified Coach. I’m also taking a USA Weightlifting course in January (Merry Christmas to me). Gotta get them continuing education credits and also, i’m sort of falling in love with Olympic lifting.
And last in the fitness category- the Vazee Rush’s are pretty awesome. Super lightweight and cushioned. I’ve only used them for shorter runs so far. Kinda wish I ran in the dark, since they glow!
Last weekend was spent at the Raycroft Christmas party- if you don’t know them already (they pop up on the blog often) they are basically my unrelated family. They call me their daughter and are all around amazing people. I opted to travel for their annual party this year instead of Christmas weekend, and i’m so happy I did. I got to catch up with a lot of old friends and a lot of good pizza.

the midwest does it best.
Our attempt to start the night as classy as possible, sipping and swirling some Laphroaig and getting a picture with the sword. Cheers! Now onto the fun stuff..
Adam & Trish (brother and sis-in-law) sat at the dessert table and I ate a TON of cookies and brownies.
I’m not joking, i ate a lot of dessert…hence the picture on the right. #holidayguilt
Jell-O shots..
Newly engaged friends: Patrick & Liz
Did you know that Jell-O shots turn your tongue a different color? No, just me then..

Running on Christmas Day?
12/23/2016 at 10:33 AM
Fortunately we are staying at home – just the four of us. 🙂
Definitely run on Christmas Eve but probably not running on Christmas – we’ll be volunteering in the morning as usual with the local charity that delivers gifts to underprivileged families in the area, then presents and breakfast … then all afternoon volunteering at the local SPCA. Our dinner plans are more low-key because we will all be exhausted after that! But it will feel good .. and then Monday I’ll be out there again!
Hope you guys have an awesome Christmas!

i might run on christmas? Never say never i guess, but my xmas is extremely laid back this year. Sounds like you have a very productive, giving day ahead of you. There needs to be more people like you in this world <3. Have fun, Merry Christmas!!

Oh, pizza cut in squares is just so wrong! I’ve lived in the Chicago area for a decade and still can’t get used to it.
I will be staying home for the holidays but will hopefully get in a quick run sometime on Sunday (and if Santa leaves any running gear under the tree I won’t be unhappy).
Have a Merry Christmas!

squares are weird, but what if i’m not in the mood for a lot of crust? Center piece it is! haha. Have a great Christmas!!

Okay, being able to do chin ups is my BIG GOAL for 2017! It was going to be a pretty minor goal, and then I broke my ankle and now I can’t run… so chin ups are where it’s at! Being on crutches is also a killer upper body workout so hopefully that’ll bring me closer to that goal!
12/23/2016 at 1:27 PM
ah, i’m sorry about the ankle–but you have the right idea, focus on the upper body and what you can do with that! Get better fast and keep at the chin ups!

You look so strong, lady! That’s awesome about going for certifications-I’m hoping to get an RRCA or official run coach one in 2017. Ah, DC RNR has never been a great race for me-I’ve always felt blah. I don’t think I’ll be in shape yet to run it, but maybe I will! Happy Holidays!

awesome! yeah, dc rnr is coming up much quicker than i meant to start training for another race, but I figured since i’ve been consistent with strength and base building I can kinda jump into a training plan and wing it a bit! haha. Happy New Year girl !
