DC Time!

Monday: 3m easy 9:55/pace, 45min total body strength

Tuesday: 5m easy 8:56/pace

I’m still riding the “love the long run” train. Sunday was no different than the last several weeks as I set out to run 12 miles. I got up at 6:15am to fit in the long run before heading into DC. Seriously I am NOT a morning person, but if you dangle the brunch carrot in front of me, i’ll do anything at 6am. I like eggs and coffee more than I like a lot of people.

Anywho, the run was lovely! I was super relaxed, kept my watch covered up and enjoyed being one of the early morning runners out on the trail. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, but sometimes those are the best runs.

The rest of this post is weird because I literally lived this same day over a year ago with Emmeline. It started at Zengo for brunch.

It was so sunny, warm and beautiful I turned into a tourist and walked for several hours around the district.

The day continued with walking around the Natural History Museum and then back home.

  1. Looks like a beautiful place to run! You should definitely run Marine Corps Marathon one year in DC- I loved it! And that brunch and milkshake look amazing! I love doing touristy things in my city (Boston) when the weather is nice! Have a great day!

  2. What an amazing day! I’m also loving the long run lately. I am totally jealz of your food pics – that shake looks like it is no joke! YUM!! Great job! xo

  3. Love everything about this post 🙂

Great long run – and I love how you note that “nothing out of the ordinary happened” – it reminds me of how I say that “mostly the miles are just boring”. But what it means is – it was just a great run, with nothing to really talk about.

And yay for brunch! Looks like a great place and like you and Cameron had a great day. The weather seemed awesome as well!

It is pretty nice here as well – though scaled for the generally colder weather we get. But seriously – I was in shorts on Monday, and a single layer this morning (which I regretted as the temperature dropped 20 degrees over the course of my run! ugh). It has felt more like late March or April than February! Not complaining … we paid enough in cold weather last year!

We definitely play tourists out here still even though we’re approaching 8 years in the Corning area. From the start we made it a goal to explore and take everything in … and we keep doing it year after year! As empty nesters next year it should be interesting (though we’re not really ‘free’ since we have the dogs!). I love exploring!

  4. I don’t think I have ever felt the need to play tourist in Baltimore. Maybe once Ive been living out of the city a little longer. Looks like such a great day!

  5. I am so angsty to get out and do some long runs again! That trail looks pretty perfect. And I agree brunch is the best meal ever.
