I got a picture back from the Color Me Rad 5k, the last run I did before I realized i was injured.
Even though my ankle was not cooperating during this run, when I went through a color station one of the volunteers said “Now there’s a real runner”–don’t know what he meant, but it was appreciated even though I was in pain.
Good news from my latest chiro appt. I have 2-4 weeks of therapy/cross training/and pool running (hope to get my first swim sesh in tomorrow morning!). The Doc was very optimistic i’d be back running soon as long as i’m not pushing my “land” workouts too much. Which means no heavy lifting or deep squats or lunges for now. Using the TRX suspension trainers for leg work was ok’d because i can take a lot of weight out of my ankle and focus on balance, and control the depth of the moves. (i’ll show you a sample workout when i can get someone to take pics).
Hope everyone’s weekend was a blast!
Workouts!!
Monday: 15 min shoulders/squats
Tuesday: 15 triceps, 10 min lower back, 10 abs
Wednesday: 12 min elliptical, 20 minutes chest/shoulders, 15 abs
Thursday: 3000m row machine, 15min TRX Leg workout
Friday: Rest
Saturday: lots of walking
Sunday: Rest
Mileage: 0. Not counting the few miles of walking, although my ankle felt alright!
How do you find motivation to workout on the weekend? Or early morning?
What is your favorite PRS (post recovery snack!)?

Love the pics – Cameron does look great and love the couples pics as well!
Great news from the chiro – I hope things continue to recover well, and good you are taking it slow and easy!
Funny when you get to that ‘this is our last X as an unmarried couple’ point … made me smile because I can remember doing that even all these years later.
As for mornings / weekends – well, mornings are my time so I just get up and go (4AM no less), and weekends it depends on whether or not Lisa is working. Saturday she worked so I went for a nice long run, yesterday she was off so we slept in and had nice relaxing coffee on the couch. 🙂

It just started hitting me that I’m gonna be married soon..so strange..I’m glad you’re flexible enough not to ruin coffee/couch time. It’s my favorite part of the weekend!

Oh he does take good race photos! Lucky bastard 😉 fav recovery snack: honey and avocado on toast topped with poached eggs. I don’t have a problem with weekends working out but mornings are a constant struggle, the 5am workouts required when it’s 97 degrees piss me off every single time. Mostly I just feel like I don’t have a choice, a few attempts at trying to run later on a Virginia summer day will quickly convince you what a bad idea it is.

Honey and avocado?? I’ll have to try that. I’m also struggling with early morning workouts. I’ve been trying to get to the pool for over a week now and it just hasn’t happened

Ugh, that’s no fair how photogenic he is, especially while running!! My weekend workouts have been a big struggle lately because we’ve just been so busy! I wrote out my training plan for this week so hopefully that will help me stick to it, including the weekend. I love a post run almond butter, almond milk, chocolate protein shake!

That sounds delicious! I’m terrible about writing a training plan for myself believe it or not. I pretty much ask myself what’s not sore today? And workout the fresh muscles haha

You guys are too cute! You really do look like advertisements for that race. 🙂 I’m so glad that you are feeling better!
05/19/2014 at 3:51 PM
Thanks! You have to run a great marathon cause I’m gonna channel all my training to you!

You two looked great at the run. That is great news from the Dr. Don’t push it and you will be back to running in no time.
My motivation comes from my fiance and my blogger buddies. Support and encouragement are huge. MY post race snack is a beer, dis that count lol
05/19/2014 at 12:57 PM
Totally counts. I do beer after long runs almost every time lol

You guys are both so cute in those pictures! I love the outfits and the smiles! Great news about your ankle! Can’t wait for you to be back running! 🙂

Thanks me either!! I’m dying for a run

You guys are such a cute couple! You will have awesome wedding photos. Is it weird to look forward to weekend workouts? Right now my gym is only open 9am -1pm on weekends so I have to go in and get her done early. During the week it’s 6AM workouts. It took me so long to get used to this – the only thing that works is going to bed early :(. Glad you have a timeline to get back to running! I ran my first couple of miles yesterday and today and it felt so good to be back.

Oh yay!! so glad u got to run!

Those are some really great pics. The one of you guys running together is so cute! Rob and I only have pictures running together in one race (we were both having a really bad race and were doing alot of walking) so in the pictures neither of us is smiling and we look like we don’t even know each other.
Glad to hear you will be back to running soon!

I’m doing much better! And I was pleasantly surprised at our race pics. They are never that cute

Yeah, I’ve seen pics you guys have posted, so I’ll just call BS on that one now 🙂
